Family Camp!!!

Fun was had by all. We spent one week in the San Bernardino mountains of Southern Cal. at Forest Home Camp.

They had a little carousel in an enclosed playground for the little ones. The kids would stay on for an hour at a time...again, again.

4-5000 feet of vertical to the top of Mt San Bernardino

Abby on the climbing wall
Rachel is the only one I know who can manage look beautiful in this dorky gear.
Up goes the "little tarantula"
Mom takes a turn.
The boys are ready:
Dad did okay, but looks pretty stiff. Taking a rest before the overhang. Didn't help: this was as far as he got.
Everyone ready for the Zip line. Can you tell Rachel is only doing it because her little sister is?
Looking pretty grubby.

Ready to Zip!! At least 30 feet up. Four at a time in separate parallel lines. Mom went first, then the kids plus dad.
Abby jumped off first with the others following. Dad jumped last because he thought trusting your life to a little bolt was nuts!

Family photos at a beautiful overlook on Lake Day.

Billy Graham devoted his life to ministry at this spot.

The kids loved the water trampoline and kayaks at the lake.
Ethan got his own kayak and picked it up really fast. Definitely gifted with anything mechanical.
Very short pony rides...two times around the corral, but the photos are cute.

Astro-turf slide!!

Love that look.
Pool time.

Our time there was great. We were all in a small "cabin"- sort of like two dorm rooms with adjoining bathroom.

Typical day. Get up, get to breakfast and browse the buffet. Kids then go to their classes and adults to their morning meeting, or free time. Blowing off meetings was not at all discouraged.

Regroup as a family for lunch, then the afternoon all together in the various activities you see above. After dinner, we would meet our "Child Care Assistant" (baby sitter provided by the camp), who would get the kids to bed while we went to an evening lecture/meeting, and enjoyed some time together.

Overall we highly recommend it. A beautiful camp and great time for reflection, learning, and relaxation.

The best part was having the Carlson's (Eric's best friend from high school) up there at the same time with their two little one's.
