Heather's First Race

We went to "Anthem Days" at a town an hour away (and about 20 degrees warmer) so Heather could run her first 5K. I about fell down when she said she wanted to run one a few months ago. She needed some motivation to keep exercising, so this was a fun goal.

I am very proud of the work it took her to prepare for this.

Pre-race, it was cold and windy.

Where's Waldo?

Go:

The Crowd goes wild!

On the Home stretch looking good.

Finishing time 29:43 for a 9:35/mile pace. Better than the 10 min miles she has been doing. Must be the high altitude training in Prescott.

There was also a kids 1K that everyone ran:

Happy Runner Ethan:

Drama Queen:

Joel thought this run was very serious and ran his heart out.

Then it was off to Anthem Days for a picnic and bouncy castle fun.

Lots of fun was had. We might make it an annual thing for the family. Ethan wants to run the 5K next year.
