After a lot of details I did not bore you with (backfill, pouring footers, install plumbing, place rebar) the basement floor is finally in. What this means practically is that framing the house starts on monday!!
The floor has since been cut into 4X4 ft squares. We are planning to finish the basement floor by simply staining the concrete, so it should look quite cool, and be very durable.
